EMDR Therapy

Heal from the past. Reclaim your present. Move toward the future.

What is EMDR?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a trauma-focused therapy that helps you process and heal from distressing memories, experiences, and beliefs. Originally developed to treat PTSD, EMDR is now widely used for a range of issues, including anxiety, grief, childhood trauma, and negative self-talk.

EMDR works by helping your brain "unstick" painful memories that are stored in a way that continues to trigger emotional and physical responses—even long after the event has passed. Through a structured process that includes bilateral stimulation (like eye movements or tapping), EMDR helps you reprocess these memories so they no longer hold the same emotional charge.

How EMDR Can Help

You might benefit from EMDR if you:

  • Feel stuck in past experiences you can’t seem to move past

  • Experience flashbacks, nightmares, or intrusive thoughts

  • Struggle with anxiety, panic, or low self-worth

  • Have a history of abuse, neglect, or complex trauma

  • Feel emotionally reactive in certain situations without knowing why

EMDR doesn't require you to talk in detail about the trauma. Instead, it focuses on what comes up for you in the moment—emotionally, physically, and cognitively—so that your brain can complete the healing process.

What to Expect in EMDR Therapy

Your therapist will guide you through a structured 8-phase protocol that includes:

  1. Assessment & Preparation – Learning about your story and building trust

  2. Resourcing – Developing tools for regulation and emotional safety

  3. Reprocessing – Targeting distressing memories and activating healing

  4. Integration – Creating new beliefs and emotional responses that feel more empowering

Sessions are paced according to your comfort and readiness. EMDR can be integrated into ongoing therapy or done as a focused treatment.
